PhD candidate receives research scholarship
Arlind Mara received the 2020-2021 Jerry Yang Graduate Research Excellence Award. Mara is a PhD candidate in the Department of Pathobiology and Veterinary Science (PVS).
The award, conferred annually in memory of Animal Science Professor Jerry Yang, is given to a continuing graduate student based on demonstrated academic achievement. It is given to encourage research excellence by providing fellowship support for graduate students enrolled full-time in CAHNR.
Mara primarily studies Mycoplasmas, a genus of bacteria, in humans and animals. As a researcher in PVS Professor Steven Geary‘s lab, he studies pathogenesis and virulence mechanisms as well as vaccine design.
